Direct primary care is an alternative form of healthcare, in which the patient pays a monthly membership fee for primary care services. Primary care services include annual wellness exams, follow up visits for care management, urgent visits, in-office laboratory testing, and care coordination. This model of healthcare puts the patient first by providing longer appointment times, having timely appointments, and having 24/7 access to the primary care physician through multiple communication channels.

No, these two healthcare models are different. Concierge medicine usually requires an annual membership contract with higher fees paid monthly or annually. Concierge medicine may also still bill insurance for covered services in addition to the membership fee. With the direct primary care model, insurance is never billed, keeping the costs of the services lower.

Yes, at OFM we are happy to accept children as members. The membership fee for children will be adjusted accordingly.

OFM offers patients 24/7 communication access to their physician via instant messaging, phone, and email.

The membership fee is paid on a monthly basis and either the physician or the patient can terminate the agreement with one month notice at any time.

OFM functions as a direct primary care system and, therefore, functions completely outside of the insurance system. We do not bill any medical services provided at OFM through insurance.

Yes, we accept any patient regardless of their insurance situation*. Since our services function completely outside of the insurance, none of the care you receive at OFM is eligible for insurance reimbursement. However, we will always recommend that our patients maintain insurance for medical emergencies and major health issues that are outside the scope of care provided by OFM.

*We may not provide direct primary care services to any patient who has Medicaid, due to Medicaid laws.

We are happy to send out labs through insurance, if we believe that they will be covered by insurance. Tests done at an outside location can also be billed to insurance by that outside provider. We are happy to refer to consultants who accept insurance. The consultants would bill insurance as they deem appropriate. These details can be discussed with the physician at OFM when such a situation occurs.
